How to Choose Your Blends For Driving

When choosing your essential oils/blends (or single oils) to use in your car diffuser, you want to make sure you avoid certain oils that might make you feel too relaxed or sleepy such as lavender, roman chamomile, cedarwood, vetiver, and other relaxing oils.. When driving, you want to be calm and stress-free, but also alert and focused. This is especially important for long commutes, where you might start to get tired. Personally for me, inhaling straight peppermint oil (along with some direct application) was a lifesaver, when I had to drive a thirteen hour trip, on barely any sleep! (caffeine will only do so much)..

Safety

Also, when diffusing oils in the car, keep in mind that it is in a small space, so it is recommended to keep your window open just a touch, to avoid over saturation of the oil’s molecules, since essential oils are so powerful. Also one should not diffuse more than an hour or so at a time (especially if windows are closed), so as not to acquire possible symptoms of nausea or headache due to the concentration.

  3. I know what I want for my birthday: a diffuser for the car. One time my spouse bought one of those artificial diffusers and I got a really bad headache. Of course, he was being very sweet and didn’t realize it would give me a headache and tossed it when I told him, but this would be a great alternative to nothing, lol.

    1. Hey Rachel!

Yeah those artificial fresheners can be too overpowering…its easy to get tired/sick of the smell really quickly, not to mention any headaches, like you experienced! You can actually make your own car fresheners with essential oils and a clothespin and stick it on the vent. I still have to try that 🙂

  5. I am partial to the Bluesnow difuser because a user does not have to mess with cords, adapters, or batteries. While it is great for a car, it is not so good for using at home or office. I definitely like the idea of using a de-stress blend for commuting in congested areas.

Seems like you could have very relaxing car rides especially if it is a long distance or stressful.
